Inquisitive journal from Tasmania — local insights, visualised.

Hi, I’m Dan – the creator behind South Signal.

I’m from Indonesia, but now a Hobart-based aspiring data analyst passionate about turning open data into meaningful local insights. I started South Signal as a means to practice my writing and communication skills. This blog will primarily be a documentation of my research, findings, and snippets of my experiences navigating Hobart’s market for job opportunities.

South Signal also doubles as my little diaries that I plan to document from job searching, networking experiences, or everyday interaction with friendly locals! 😀

I am inquisitive in nature and super passionate with anything related to data, more recently I’m tinkering ArcGIS datasets to enhance geographical visualisations for reporting! I love helping businesses finding values from what might be messy datasets into values whether through dashboards, short articles, or visual storytelling, my goal is to make complex issues clearer — and more actionable — for people and organisations in Tasmania.

If you’re working in social impact, local government, or data-driven projects, I’d love to connect or collaborate.
